The Cleveland Cavaliers Are Owning Their Postseason Failure and That’s Exactly How Must Be
Donovan Mitchell was the last member of the Cleveland Cavaliers to speak with the media following their playoff exit on Tuesday night. He was then the first player to speak with the media Wednesday morning at the team’s practice facility in Independence.
In between those conversations Mitchell attempted to process what had happened to the Cavs in their second round exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers. That process included sitting on the team’s bench until after 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday night, watching back Game 5 multiple times and not sleeping.
His conclusion on Wednesday wasn’t much different than it was Tuesday night, even if he wasn’t as distraught as he was immediately after the loss.
The Cleveland Cavaliers failed this season.
The team won 64 games during the regular season and swept the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs by a record margin and it doesn’t matter. The end result is a failure.
And they know it.
