Game Night Observations: Two Steps Forward and One Step Back, and Defending the Arc
Well, that was a very bad loss.
CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers have been tested in a number of different ways this season. They’ve been tested on how well they can withstand injuries, how they can balance playing different styles of basketball, what they look like against some of the best teams in the NBA and more.
Monday night’s test for the Cavs was a test of how well they could handle recent success.
They failed, miserably.
The Cavs lost to the Utah Jazz, a team fresh off a 55-point1 drubbing at home against the Charlotte Hornets, but a score of 123-112.
Cleveland entered Monday’s game coming off of possibly its best win of the season on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It had won five of its past seven games and seven of the 11 games played since Dec. 22. The Cavs were, undoubtedly, a team that had been moving in the right direction after spending much of the first two months of the season playing basketball far below a championship-caliber level.
