Game Night Observations: The Top Seed is Clinched, Garland's Good Night, and an Update on Donovan Mitchell's Ankle
For the fourth time in franchise history, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Chicago Bulls 135-113 on Tuesday night to win their 63rd game of the season.
A man once said, “The East runs through Cleveland.”
That man was Tristan Thompson and he said those words back in late September of 2018. The Cavs were coming off of four consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals. In the previous four years they swept the Eastern Conference Finals twice and complied a postseason record against East opponents of 48-11.
Thompson said that as the Cavaliers were embarking their second rebuild after a LeBron James-led era. The East, obviously, no longer ran through Cleveland as it did during that four-year stretch.
