Game Night Observations: Dominating Dallas, Evan Mobley's Gradual Return and a Weird Press Conference
Well, that was a basketball game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 144-101 on Sunday afternoon inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
The Dallas Mavericks looked like a team that had no interest in playing a basketball game on Sunday. Less than 18 hours after trading away superstar Luka Doncic, who could blame them?
That doesn’t make what the Cavs did any less impressive. It was a record-setting afternoon in multiple offensive categories. The Cavs scored 50 points in the first quarter, 91 points in the first half and made 26 3-pointers during the game. All three of those marks are franchise records. Maybe those records don’t all happen against a team with more motivation than the Mavericks had on Sunday, but it’s also unfair to the Cavs to say that anyone could have stopped them on this day. Sometimes, when it’s good, it’s real good.
It was real good for the Cavs on Sunday.
